Installing Seawalls in Dinsmore

Seawalls can be more complex than some might think. Each panel must be buried a minimum of 40%-50% of the canal bed. Sea-walls are not inserted by hammering, but are pressed into place by stirring up the canal bed.
To keep the seawall off the landward side, we place deadman anchors every 10 feet. The anchors are inserted about 15 feet below the below the surface. To prevent rusting, these deadman anchors need to be made from epoxy-coated steel rebar. They are also covered with a poly pipe sleeves. The concrete cap of the seawall is preserved by sealing the end of the rebar that is attached to the seawall cap.

 

On most of our jobs, we pour our seawall caps on-site and then tie the various components together. Jacksonville Seawall Repair & Dock Construction often includes further structural support to its seawall cap by using custom-made-stirrup-shaped lathe.
