Installing Seawalls in Loretto

Seawalls can be more complicated than you might think. Every panel must penetrate at least 40%-50% of the sea bed. Seawalls are not inserted by hammering, but are positioned by agitating the sand.
To keep the seawall off the landward side, we place deadman anchors every 10 feet. The anchors extend approximately 15 feet down into the ground. Otherwise prone to rust, these deadman anchors should be made from epoxy-coated steel rebar. They are also covered with a poly pipe sleeves. The concrete cap of the sea-wall is sealed by sealing the end of the rebar that is attached to the seawall cap.

 

On most of our jobs, we pour our seawall caps on-site and then tie the various components together. Jacksonville Seawall Repair & Dock Construction often uses extra structural skeletal support to its seawall caps by employing custom-stirrup-shaped steel rebar.
